Weightlifting Fairy was known as one of the romantic korean tv shows in 2016 internationally. Most viewers liked the storyline and the main characters. They thought that the actors suits the characters' personality. However, the ratings in Korea was low because they favored some other dramas that was showing that time. Also because the cast were newbies and weren't that known as actors. Even so, these newby actors became famous internationally because of their undeniable chemistry.

The show was known in some other asian contries and of course, most korean fans all over the world. It also became the most popular in the Philippines where they continued to gain fans. Not only that but one of the lines "Do you like messi?" topped twitter and became popular for days. In the Philippines, it became a prank/meme to filipino fans and actually tried to text their crush with the same line. Because in the show, "Do you like messi?" was said to the main character symbolizing that men are attracted to women who have the same interests as them and would make them ask the girl out. Most fans are obssessing over Nam Joo Hyuk's pretty face and Lee Sung Kyung's coolness. Actually, Some of the networks in different countries are planning to put the show on their channel and I guess everyone who loves these actors are excited about it. They think that this show deserves more love and more viewers will come to like this one despite of the low ratings in Korea.
